Composer’s Note:

This sonata has no literal program, but it does follow a clear emotional trajectory - from the vitality and life-affirming rhythms of the first movement, to the ambiguity of the second movement, to the aggression and brutality of the finale.  Writing it was a personal challenge to say something unique and compelling within a well-established form.
